Digging deep into mountain cores has always been an instinctual characteristic the the Dwarves – long before they began traversing the Cosmos.

When a young Dwarf came of age, they would be promoted from Sifting/Sorting duties, to Front Line Miners and presented with a Rockwool piece of cloth to be worn at all times outside of the mines. This allowed them to easily transition their sight to the mines low light conditions

Millenia would pass, and their technology would make forward leaps.

This would make the use of the “Ocularus” obsolete.

The Dwarves being a sentimental race, would still implement the use of the “Ocularus” for newly promoted Miner Dwarves…

… They are now worn for ceremonial purposes, and passed down as family heirlooms.
